Social architecture is the conscious design of an environment that benefits the spaces and communities.
At Raw Design, we truly believe in social architecture and our commitment towards it is one of our main concerns.
Targeting local materials
At Raw design, the language of creativity is linked to the materials. We always try to favour the use of local materials, both to innovate in Architecture and to challenge construction prices and carbon footprint. This approach is a part of our social engagement in Architecture.
Improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable
The paradoxical nature of African cities is truly impressive and the interweaving fabric of urban and social issues generated by an often rapid growth can be really challenging and disadvantageous towards fragile populations.
We are happy to be part of many projects led by non governmental organisations as well as governmental institutions that tend to improve the quality of life of precarious and underprivileged populations.

To the same end, our founder, Huguette RUZIBIZA, is also co-founder of two collectives:
L’atelier spontané:
a group created in 2013 by young architects voluntarily dedicated to focus on the impact of fast urbanization on the underprivileged and to search for solutions. Following an UIA (International Union of Architects) and UAA (African Union of Architects) reunion, and supported by the CNOAI (National Council of the Ivorian Architects) the first project tackled the challenges faced by Adjouffou slum populations.

(in partnership with The Goethe Institut) : collective borned of the heartfelt concerns about the current state of the Ebrie Lagoon, its shores and the precariousness of its populations heavily affected by pollution and erosion.
Educate and Raise Awareness
We believe that improvement comes with changes in attitudes which necessarily implies information and education. Therefore Raw Design is committed to spread awareness on ecological and social challenges among youth and building professionals. Accordingly, we use any tools at our disposal and participate with honor to related talks, presentations, podcasts… when solicited…
